Philanthropy : An investment to contribute to society by creating permanent funds whose capital is preserved, untouchable, in order to generate perpetual interest.
The Eastern Townships Community Foundation : An independent public organization that facilitates the creation and the maintenance of endowment funds, the derived interest of which contributes, year after year, to the realization of specific needs identified by the funds' administrators.
The Community Foundations of Canada : a nation-wide organization that supports some 200 Community Foundations across Canada. Collectively, these Community Foundations administer assets of nearly 5 billion dollars.

Reaching philanthropic goals : An endowment fund targets specific community actions designated by the fund's administrators. Year after year, the generated interest helps the fund realize its goals.
The holders of community funds : They are individuals, families or corporations who choose to contribute to society by creating a fund whose capital is permanently preserved in order to assure the generation of interest, year after year.
They maintain complete control of the uses of the invested capital's generated interest. Each year, the fund's administrators opt either to reinvest the interest to increase the capital, or to utilize it, in whole or in part, to further the fund's goals.
