Who we are

We are a philanthropic organization that works to help improve the overall quality of life in the community. There are so many worthy cause to support
.

The Eastern Townships Community Foundation first saw the light of day in May, 2002 thanks to the support of Centraide Estrie which helped set it up following meetings and discussions between some visionary philanthropists who were concerned about the state of local community development. We are now part of the Canada-wide network of community foundations, nine of which are in Quebec and 191 across the country.

Our philanthropic endowment assets attained a bit over $500,000 by December 31, 2016. In addition, we administer several other funds that are in transit and whose value was estimated to be in excess of $1,6 million on December 31, 2016, for a total of some $2,2 million. The Community Fund comprises twenty fund holders dedicated to charitable, humanitarian, cultural and environmental causes.

We annually provide financial support to our local organizations here in the Eastern Townships.

Since 2002 we have become an accredited source for receiving funds from such sources as Placements Cultures du Gouvernement du Québec, signed a discretionary portfolio management agreement for private funds and signed an agreement with a government agency and its program entitled “Partenaire pour la nature” to create biodiversity endowment funds because of the recognition that and our environment and ecosystems are an integral part of the whole community picture.

The territory served by the Foundation includes the municipalities within the Eastern Townships and immediately beyond.
